After spending consecutive days mainly on the road chasing the sun and hitting popular destinations, we wanted to slow down and spend the last day of our trip more relaxed and whimsically.
Ashinomaki Onsen Ookawa is known for its resemblance to Demon Slayer's "Infinity Castle" - an endless, extra-dimensional space of wooden rooms, endless halls, and moving corridors. Our journey wouldn't be completed without visiting this ryokan.

Upon our arrival at the ryokan, we were greeted by a spacious lobby that featured a floating red stage at its center. A shamisen music was being played by a stunning performer in a kimono- for a moment, it felt like I was brought into the Demon Slayer world. The guests wore their yukatas and gathered around to enjoy the performance. The performance is held daily between 4PM to &PM. When the stage is available, guests can take photos and reenact the scene from the anime.
The ryokan is famous not only for its resemblance to the Infinity Castle but also for its stunning outdoor bath that attracts visitors annually in winter. As soon as I went out for the experience, I couldn't help but recognize how it was designed to replicate the layout of rice terraces. Overlooking the snowy mountains for a soak was an incredibly breathtaking moment. It was truly an exceptional experience to enjoy a snowfall.
It's finally the last day of our Touhoku trip! Thank you so much for coming along and exploring the beauty of the winter season in Touhoku.
